Push Into the Pain

Like in weightlifting, pain produces gain.

  • God will confront us with things or areas of hurt so that we can face them and decompartmentalize them to be healed and cleansed in those areas.
    • It's not comfortable but it heals.

The Truth Behind 'No Pain, No Gain' In Weight Lifting: Addressing the pain of effort, a new trainee is often exercising muscles he or she has seldom used before. To those unaccustomed to heavy training it may seem rather daunting. Many are shocked and want to quit right then and there. If trainees persist, however, they will hopefully realize that what they feel is not even pain, but is really just the feel of unaccustomed effort. And that cannot only be gotten accustomed to, you can learn to enjoy it or at least welcome its challenge. Eventually the pain will not be noticed, and it will be taken for granted.

Fred Lowe, champion bodybuilder said, "Champion weightlifters are no different physically from others. They are just willing to train with weights that are beyond the comfort level of the average person."

Here is the process of bondage:

  1. We sin or disobey out of self-will or ignorance
  2. This potentially removes the blood covering leaving us open to the enemy
  3. The demonic gains legal access to us
  4. This demonic begins to
    1. Lie about God and His intent towards us thus causing heart harm
    2. They also cause defeat & destruction in our lives
  5. We believe that God is doing the harm & defeat causing extensive heart injury and distrust
  6. Bondage is now set into the heart and mind.

Galatians 5:1a NAS It was for freedom that Christ set us free

Because we were made for freedom God sets a course of action to get the truth in us so that it can set us free.

  • John 8:31-33 NAS 31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
    • It is on us to be open to the truth and seek it out.

Here is the process of healing & deliverance:

  1. God sees the injury and bondage that disobedience has done to us and desires us to be free
  2. Knowing that He can’t violate our will and force deliverance on us He:
    1. Confronts us with His word to build our faith
    2. Confronts us with truth concerning our hurt & bondage for us to question unholy output
  3. Leads us to encounter the injury or bondage
  4. By confronting the injury we become healed
  5. By confronting the bondage we become free
  6. If we reject the confrontation because of the pain/shame/guilt our loving Father goes back to step 2 hoping freedom will come on the next encounter.

Lies about God and His intent cause us to not push into the pain as be believe it is God producing the pain as payment for our disobedience.

  • 2 Peter 3:17-18a NAS 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God's fruit of His plan for us and His kingdom

Healed relationships, unity,

On the way to achieving what God wants for us there's often pain, discouragement, discomfort, etc.

Our ability to press into the pain depends on 2 main things

Do we believe in His plan

Do we trust Him while He is completing that plan in us

Bill Johnson - God is Good: “His goodness is beyond our ability to comprehend, but not our ability to experience. Our hearts will take us where our heads can’t fit.”

We must establish a trust with God's delegated gifts.

Understand I at different times:

Chase away wolves

Sometimes when the wolf chasing is done we recognize the wolfy places in us and it's hard to trust that the wolf chaser isn't against us now
