Look at the importance of the blood all through the bible

  • Cain’s sacrifice was rejected because it was not a blood sacrifice
  • Life is in the blood

When sin occurs death takes over

  • Life can only be redeemed by life for life

Leviticus 17:10-11 NAS 10 'And any man from the house of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. 11 'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.'

We sold ourselves and became the property of the devil when we obey sin.

When sin entered the first time with Adam and Eve, God sacrificed blood when He killed the animal to clothe them.

  • Genesis 3:21 NASB The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

We sold ourselves.

  • Romans 6:16 NLT Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
  • Romans 7:14 YLT for we have known that the law is spiritual, and I am fleshly, sold by the sin

Jesus blood redeemed us

purchased/KJV redeemed (Strongs) - agorazo (ag-or-ad'-zo); properly, to go to market, to purchase; specially, to redeem

1 Peter 1:18-19 AMP 18 You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold, 19 But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without blemish or spot.

Acts 20:28 NAS Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

The heart keeps the blood flowing

The blood carries and distributes what our body needs

Life is in the blood. As the body of Christ we are connected to Him and to each other.

Applying the blood in our lives personally on a regular basis keeps a continual access point open in our relationship for Him to feed in what we need for life, which can change on a daily basis. Acts 17:28a AMP For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being]

When we take communion often as Jesus told us to, we are keeping that access point open between each other for the blood to connect us with life. It's like an inoculation process to protect us and bring us nutrients. 1 Corinthians 11:23-30 NKJV 23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

As we see in the natural, blood clots, aneurysms, plaque, etc... can stop blood from flowing where it's needed. It is our responsibility to invite the blood into our lives to bring what we need to keep those things from hindering our relationship with God and others.

Would you buy a gun knowing that it will protect you then place it in a drawer and never become proactive on learning how to use it?

The OT says God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours. The NT says we have the mind of Christ. We must be proactive with knowing and applying what He's given us to live "higher."

(Applying the blood is like connecting to the tree of life on the movie Avatar.)

Blood – Oil for Your Body (Source

The engine in your car has oil. The oil does lots of things. It keeps the engine clean and it keeps things running smoothly. Your blood is a little like engine oil, but even better. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in your body so they can grow and stay healthy. It carries waste products away from your cells so they stay clean. Blood even helps you get better when you’re sick.

Blood is made in the marrow of certain bones. This marrow is soft – sort of like jelly. Blood vessels in the bone carry the new blood cells to the rest of your body.

Blood is made up of four parts – plasma, red cells, white cells and platelets. Each part has a special job.

Plasma is a yellow liquid. It helps give you energy and grow.

Red blood cells carry oxygen to your cells.

White blood cells clean the blood and fight germs. When a virus enters your body, white blood cells rush to destroy the virus so you get better.

Platelets help your blood clot. When you cut yourself, a clot forms so the blood stops running. If your blood didn’t clot, you could bleed to death.

The Old Testament priests had a bloody job

  • Picture: Priest

There were many different sacrifices and offerings that went on day after day

  • Hebrews 10:11-12 NKJV 11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God

We have been made priests to apply the blood

Revelation 5:9-10 NAS 9 And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased (KJV redeemed) for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. 10 "You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth."

Revelation 1:5b-6a NKJV To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father

Hebrews 9:11-18 confirms the symbolism of blood as life and applies Leviticus 17:11 to the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. Verse 12 states clearly that the Old Testament blood sacrifices were temporary and only atoned for sin partially and for a short time, hence the need to repeat the sacrifices yearly. But when Christ entered the Most Holy Place, He did so to offer His own blood once for all time, making future sacrifices unnecessary.

In a similar fashion, whosoever "sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed" (Genesis 9:6

). Life and blood are interchangeable in this sense. Blood pays for blood. Blood pays for life. Life pays for blood. Blood is the divinely chosen currency for life because life is in the blood.

Blood sacrifices and the priesthood Ex 29:10-21 pp Lev 8:14-24; Lev 9:8-14; Lev 16:1-14

Blood sacrifices and various offerings Lev 1:1-17 the burnt offering, to gain favour or express devotion; Lev 3:1-17 the fellowship, or peace, offering, to express gratitude; Lev 4:1-35 the sin offering, to gain forgiveness; Lev 5:14-19 the guilt offering, where restitution was required; Lev 16:15-22 the Day of Atonement, for the cleansing of the nation from unintentional sin

Blood sacrifices and the Passover Ex 12:1-14 See also 2Ch 30:15-20; 2Ch 35:1-19; Ezr 6:19-21; Mk 14:12 pp Lk 22:7-8

What all does the blood do for us and how do we activate it?

  1. Forgiveness - Matthew 26:28 NKJV For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
  2. Redemption - Ephesians 1:7 NAS In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
  3. Protection - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 NAS But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
  4. Gives us access to our Father - Hebrews 10:19 NAS Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,
  5. Ability to overcome anything - Revelation 12:11 NAS And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.
  6. Deliverance/Freedom - Colossians 1:13-14 NAS 13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins

We, as priests, can apply the blood to our lives, our family and others.

Glen: Apply the blood daily…

The blood carries and distributes what our body needs

“He [God] gave you His son. He gave all that heaven had to offer,  the very blood of God was shed and poured out. He died and went to hell and was raised to sit on the right hand of the God. And in honor of His Son, forever God has chosen to honor the blood as an honor to His Son and whoever honors the blood, God will honor him.” -Creflo Dollar

Practical application starts by understanding that the blood of Jesus is the most effective weapon we have in our arsenal. It's our complete defense system  Ex 12: 12-13

A constant renewing source of power we must continually draw from. We have to hook daily to it.

Just as communion is done often you must learn to evoke the power of the blood daily. (life source)

The blood is for day to day living. Psalm 91:1, KJV: He that dwelleth in the secret place  [under the blood covering, Creflo Dollar] of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

The apostolic commissioning

John 20:21-23 NKJV 21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."  22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.  23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

Exodus 12:7a & 13a NAS 7 'Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses 13 'The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you
