Don't Determine the End from the Middle

Philippians 2:8-13 NAS 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Increase our faith!

Luke 17:5 NKJV And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."

  • Our faith will not be increased unless it is challenged

Why did the disciples ask for their faith to be increased?

  • Luke 17:1-4 NKJV 1 Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!  2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.  3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.  4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him."

You're in a battle of the mind

Many times we'll try to determine if what is happening to us is good by our present comfort and vision.

Deut. 20:4 "For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory."

Romans 8:31 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Hebrews 13:20-21 NAS 20 Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, 21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
