Does God Send Hurricanes?

Does God send hurricanes or tornadoes on people to judge them?

This is what we expect when we’ve either failed or we think we’ve failed.

1 John 4:16-18 NLT 16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

Judgement, punishment and wrath have been vented on Jesus.

  • Romans 5:8-9 NAS 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

  • This is called penal substitutionary atonement

The only way we will experience these things is if we do not have Jesus as our Savior.

  • Romans 2:5-6 NAS 5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS

The biblical doctrine of penal substitution holds that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross takes the place of the punishment we ought to suffer for our sins. As a result, God’s justice is satisfied, and those who accept Christ can be forgiven and reconciled to God.

Jesus was our payment once and for all.

  • Hebrews 10:1-4 & 10 NAS 1 For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

  • 10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:16-18 NLT 16 "This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." 17 Then he says, "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds." 18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

One of the biggest barriers in people’s growth and advancement is that they are so afraid to fail.

The biggest reason of the fear is the fear of the repercussion.

As a parent I never rejected my child even through all their failures.

My intentions never changed towards them.

1 John 3:19-23 NKJV 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Romans 5:9 NAS Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 NAS or God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ
