The Lord has shown me twice that He wasn’t going to make people accountable for the truth at that time:

  1. In a former church where I wasn’t the pastor the board wasn’t abiding by their bylaws.
  2. God said He couldn’t send money too fast because when I handled it properly it would cause stumbling
    1. Time is coming where God will make people accountable for hearing the full truth.
  3. $$ = Because father's eat sour grapes

John 16:12 NAS I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

  • John 16:12 NCV I have many more things to say to you, but they are too much for you now.
  • John 16:12 BBE I have still much to say to you, but you are not strong enough for it now.

bear (Greek) bastazo (bas-tad'-zo); from the base of NT:939 (through the idea of removal); to lift

  • NT:939 basis (bas'-ece); (to walk); the foot as a base

John 16:12 I have many more things to say to you, but you do not have the base strength to lift the requirements of what I say to you and remove them now.

We are in a time where men will hate the truth

2 Timothy 3:1-9 NAS 1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9 But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes's and Jambres's folly was also.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 NAS 9 the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

When someone exposes a place in us that we don’t want the truth in how do we respond?

  • John 3:19-21 NAS 19 "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.  20 "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  21 "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.

John 8:31-32 AMP 31 So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. 32 And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.

Our relationship with our Father hinges on us going through the Truth

  • John 14:6 NAS Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

We are sanctified or purified by truth

  • John 17:17-19 NAS 17 "Sanctify (Gr. to make holy, purify or consecrate) them in the truth; Your word is truth.  18 "As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.  19 "For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

When we won’t receive truth we view those telling the truth as an enemy

  • Galatians 4:15-17 NAS 15 Where then is that sense of blessing you had? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. 16 So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth? 17 They eagerly seek you, not commendably, but they wish to shut you out so that you will seek them.

The ability to “lift” the truth is in the Holy Spirit

John 16:13-14 NAS 13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.  14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

Each of us must have a power encounter!

  • Acts 1:8a NAS but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you
  • Without that power encounter we will not have the strength or understanding to be formed into His image

Someone has to be able to say this

  • 1 John 4:6 NAS We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
