Turning Regrets Into Victories

This message is to do two things:

  1. To help you get rid of the destructive and abusive emotion of regret

  2. To help you find life & eternal life patterns that need to be fixed so you stop the cycle of destruction feeding the regrets.

Have you ever had an instance where you wanted a do over?

In this life grace gives us lots of do overs

When this life ends there's not do overs

There are things where we get a second, third or hundredth chance

  • But there are things where 2nd chances are not available.

    • You can buy a new car but a wreck can permanently damage

    • Once you release words you can not take them back

I preached a message about restoration and had many respond with a belief in God restoring their past.

  • Some didn’t correct the harmful actions causing destruction though and I watched them wither under the demonic intrusion and the hardship of repercussions.

Biblical instances where choices caused loss:

  • Matthew 25:10-13 NAS 10 "And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut.  11 "Later the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, lord, open up for us.'  12 "But he answered, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'  13 "Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.

  • Matthew 22:14 NAS "For many are called, but few are chosen."

    • Matthew 22:11-14 NAS 11 "But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes,  12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?' And the man was speechless.  13 "Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

There are some things in life that we don’t get a second chance at.

Events that have no do over:

  • Dr. BJ Miller climbed on top of an electric powered train and hit a wire where he lost both of his feet and one hand.

  • Five teenagers from Michigan have been charged with second-degree murder after being accused of throwing a 6-pound rock off of a bridge, smashing through the windshield of the vehicle, fatally injuring him. The teens, ages 15-17, are being charged as adults with one count of second-degree murder each. They are also being charged with conspiracy to commit murder, six felony counts each of malicious destruction of property and two other lesser charges.

Our emotional response of regret is built into us as a mechanism to deter us from repeating bad or harmful circumstances.

  • Regret (Dictionary) feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, especially a loss or missed opportunity).

    • Like all things built into us they can be overdriven by darkness to where it harms us.

      • Fear, anger, judgement, etc.

    • We were created in a biosphere of love where each of what was created in us works perfectly.

      • They work now perfectly with the proper Revelation of God's love and grace.

  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 NKJV For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

    • Paul said this after a letter he wrote exposed destructive actions in the Corinthians and caused them to sorrow over their actions

If you were told you had 45 days to live what would be on your bucket list?

Mark‬ ‭8:36-37‬ ‭NAS “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? For what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

If you were going to invest in your future self where would you invest?

I wouldn’t trade what I’ve been through for where I am

  • Nelly: Would you trade where you’ve been for where you are?

Would you give your life to save a loved one?

If you said yes, you’re in good company - Jesus

The thing about Jesus is that He didn’t just die for others, He lived for them also.
