Romans 14:17 AMP [After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

$$ the chastisement of our peace

Romans 8:1-8 NKJV 8 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Thankfulness is the key because it wires our brain

Dr. Caroline Leaf - Switch On Your Brain: The ability to quiet your mind, focus your attention on the present issue, capture your thoughts, and dismiss the distractions that come your way is an excellent and powerful ability that God has placed within you. In the busy age we live in, however, we have trained ourselves out of this natural and necessary skill. Natural because it is wired into the design of the brain, allowing the brain to capture and discipline chaotic rogue thoughts; necessary because it calms our spirits so we can tune in and listen to God.

VIDEO: Brain Chemistry by Dr. Henry Cloud

When we allow toxic thoughts to overrun us they actually cause our brain to stop thinking and just react from our base nature.

Our base nature mind produces:

When we choose not to be thankful for what we have what we don’t have overruns our minds with jealousy and envy producing division.

We then believe lies like, “If I had more of… I’d be happy”, “If I was… I’d be happy”, “If I

1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NKJV 3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

$$ the mind set on the flesh is… the mind SET (we can set our minds)

When we only feed this world’s stuff into our minds we will never reap the benefits from God, like peace, joy, etc.

Why do we want pets?

Pets simulate love

We crave love

$$God is love so we came from love

Children in homes that do not care for them properly still hold to the parent(s) that are not being parents because they believe in the biological connection to produce the love that they crave.

To put their trust in an unknown source of love is so unsure they’ll cling to the hope of love through the biological avenues.

Love produces safety and we desire safety/peace

What will we do to be loved?
