KEEPING VISION ALIVE

How many made New Year’s resolutions?

What keeps us from carrying through on them?

I don’t exercise right because I have a number of very good reasons.

Proverbs 29:18a KJV Where there is no vision, the people perish

  • Proverbs 29:18 NAS Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is he who keeps the law

“A man without a vision is a man without a future. A man without a future will always return to his past.” (P.K. Bernard)

VISION IS THE DRIVING FORCE THAT PROPELLS US

  • Without vision we perish or go “unrestrained
  • Vision gives pain a purpose.

Those without vision spend their lives taking the path of least resistance as they try to avoid discomfort.

The level of sacrifice that a vision requires will determine the size of people who follow. (Kris Vallotton)

Think about the boys on our football team or for that matter any sports team.

  • Do they obey their parents like they obey the coach?
  • Do they volunteer to get up at dawn and push their bodies to the point of collapse?
  • Do they put the amount of time required to be on the team in to anything else?
    • WHY DO THEY DO THIS? - VISION

Why do some players on some teams play harder than other players on other teams?

  • THE STRENGTH OF THE VISION

So many of us go through life not understanding the purposes of our trials.

  • We end up believing that every obstacle in the road is a problem and something to be avoided.
  • “But happy is he who keeps the Law.”
    • The law is the restraint, boundaries and disciplines we develop around our life to direct us through obstacles instead of around them.
    • These obstacles become builders of who we are to become on the way to fulfilling that vision that is driving us.

If vision is the key component to keep you moving forward, wouldn’t the enemy want you to lose it?

  • How does he do this? Trials – Fears – Unbelief - Focus on the natural

We must prepare how to handle vision killers

Matthew 13:18-23 NAS 18 "Hear then the parable of the sower.  19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.  20 "The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.  22 "And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.  23 "And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty."

Your greatest act is to be faithful to the vision

  • Acts 26: 19 AMP I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision

ESTABLISHING WHAT YOU BELIEVE/YOUR CORE VALUES

  • Often, the things we say we believe and the things we actually believe are not the same.
  • These are base biblical truths, general and personal that I focus on when my natural eyes try to tell me otherwise.
  • These values help you to locate who you are so as to define your personal vision to a greater level.

Vision is defined by the word first and then by what you believe God has called you to.

  • It is NOT the ability to see yourself perfectly in the future or know what exactly you are from day one.

MELDING VISION WITH WHERE YOU ARE NOW

  • Bring vision from the unseen world into the natural realm by simply writing it down.
  • Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV 2 Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
