Judge But Do Not Judge

Here are three types of judgement:

  1. The evaluation of actions and words to determine if we allow the acceptance and entrance of them into our lives.
  2. Determining case matters between two or more people.
    1. Luke 12:13-14 AMP 13 Someone from the crowd said to Him, Master, order my brother to divide the inheritance and share it with me. 14 But He told him, Man, who has appointed Me a judge or umpire and divider over you?
  3. The unmerciful critical view of someone to determine their guilt in a matter.

Luke 6:37 AMP Judge not [neither pronouncing judgment nor subjecting to censure], and you will not be judged; do not condemn and pronounce guilty, and you will not be condemned and pronounced guilty; acquit and forgive and release (give up resentment, let it drop), and you will be acquitted and forgiven and released.

We must set inner boundaries according to what we believe the bible says is right.

  • These boundaries protect us from having our morals corrupted.
    • 1 Corinthians 15:33 NAS Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

Boundaries, Cloud & Townsend: Boundaries aren’t inherited. They are built. To be the truth-telling, responsible, free, and loving people God wants us to be we need to learn limits from childhood on. Boundary development is an ongoing process, yet its most crucial stages are in our very early years, where our character is formed.

Boundaries also develop in specific, distinct phases that you can perceive. In fact, by noting infants and children in their early parental interactions, child development professionals have able to record the specific phases of boundary development.

1 Corinthians 5:10-13 NKJV 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner — not even to eat with such a person. 12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person."

In today’s world we are constantly having impure things thrown at us.

  • These things are designed to gain access to us to defile us by their output

When we see stuff on TV or in person and we must make a judgement about it.

When we see someone in a situation that might be questionable it is okay for us to make a ruling as to whether it is right

  • But not to judge unfairly without knowing the whole situation or circumstance
  • Don't judge the person or their motives.
  • We are to love and love always thinks the best.
    • That doesn't mean that we shut our eyes to what the truth is.
  • Evaluate to set your standards but don't un-justly judge.
  • Also don't judge by the external just how something looks or someone

It's weird that inward I have to violently trash something while outward be loving

Everyone handles morality different

Morality (Dictionary)

  1. principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior.
  2. a particular system of values and principles of conduct, especially one held by a specified person or society.
  3. the extent to which an action is right or wrong

We see people that have no moral boundaries with abortion, drugs, sex, etc.

  • Isaiah 5:20 NAS Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness

Switch On Your Brain- Dr. Caroline Leaf: Through our thoughts we can be our own micro surgeons as we make choices that will change the circuits in our brains. We are designed to do our own brain surgery and rewire our brains by thinking and by choosing to renew our minds.

This scientific power of our mind to change the brain is called epigenetics and spiritually it is as a man thinks, so is he (Prov. 23: 7).

Judge what people tell you

1 Corinthians 14:29 NKJV Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.

  • 1 Corinthians 14:29 AMP So let two or three prophets speak [those inspired to preach or teach], while the rest pay attention and weigh and discern what is said.

We set boundaries to keep us safe

To keep us safe from unwanted suggestions during our life, we have what can be described as a network or lens through which we see life. This is often referred to as the “critical faculty” and serves up a set of beliefs we have gathered throughout our lives. It is impossible for any suggestion, which violates any moral or ethical boundaries, to penetrate the critical faculty. Even during hypnosis, you only act upon those suggestions which you find to be beneficial and are within your own standards.

Galatians 6:1 AMP Brethren, if any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also.

  • This is the output we’re to have

Evaluation is good but our evaluation must be balanced and without prejudice.

  • Not prejudice toward your own interests.

As we set these boundaries we can’t become condemningly judgmental of others.

We need to be impartial in our judgements

  • Proverbs 20:23 AMP Diverse and deceitful weights are shamefully vile and abhorrent to the Lord, and false scales are not good.
  • Luke 12:54-59 GOD'S WORD (italics are mine) 54 Jesus said to the crowds, "When you see a cloud coming up in the west, you immediately say, 'There's going to be a rainstorm,' and it happens. 55 When you see a south wind blowing, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and that's what happens. 56 You hypocrites! You can forecast the weather by judging the appearance of earth and sky. But for some reason you don't know how to judge the time in which you're living. 57 So why don't you judge for yourselves what is right? (without proclivities) 58 For instance, when an opponent brings you to court in front of a ruler, do your best to settle with him before you get there (let go of your personal interests). Otherwise, he will drag you in front of a judge. The judge will hand you over to an officer who will throw you into prison (guilty because you held to your own interests). 59 I can guarantee that you won't get out until you pay every penny of your fine."
  • This is the spiritual result of not judging rightly and why God’s people live confined.

Judging ministries out of a personal view

  • People that were a part of a ministry and thought the ministry did them wrong
    • David didn’t kill Saul even when done wrong
