  • There is a harvest promised before the wedding feast

Matthew 22:1-14 NAS 1 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying, 2 "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.  3 "And he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to come4 "Again he sent out other slaves saying, 'Tell those who have been invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened livestock are all butchered and everything is ready; come to the wedding feast."'  5 "But they paid no attention and went their way, one to his own farm, another to his business (Luke 14:18 But they all alike began to make excuses), 6 and the rest seized his slaves and mistreated them and killed them.  7 "But the king was enraged, and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.  8 "Then he said to his slaves, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.  9 'Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding feast.'  10 "Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered together all they found, both evil and good; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner guests.

11 "But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes, 12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?' And the man was speechless.  13 "Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'  14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."

One of the primary reasons the Jews in Jesus day missed what God was doing because their eschatology was wrong.

  • The church is so caught up on when the rapture is going to happen their missing being prepared.

Matthew 13:24-30 NAS 24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.  25 "But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.  26 "But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also.  27 "The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?'  28 "And he said to them, 'An enemy has done this!' The slaves said to him, 'Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?'  29 "But he said, 'No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.  30 'Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.

  • The harvest of the tares is happening now.

The combine is being put together

  • Video: Combine animation
  • The combine is the body of Christ.
  • The owner can't afford for the combine to break down during harvest.
  • You are being built to never break down.

If a field is set on fire by someone's tongue, we'll need to be ready to hurry to that field and harvest as much as possible before the fire gets there.

Luke 19:29-31 NAS 29 When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, "Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.  31 "If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' you shall say, 'The Lord has need of it.'

  • A donkey is a worker
  • You are being untied from things right now
  • What God is doing in you now is to make you ready.
  • He's fixing broken parts
  • He's testing your strength
  • He's proving your faithfulness
    • This is a time to untie yourself from things that aren't part of the Father's plan.

Gathering of the virgins is happening now

Matthew 25:1-13 NAS 1 "Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.  2 "Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.  3 "For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps.  5 "Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep.  6 "But at midnight there was a shout, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.'  7 "Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.  8 "The foolish said to the prudent, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'  9 "But the prudent answered, 'No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.'  10 "And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut.  11 "Later the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, lord, open up for us.'  12 "But he answered, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'  13 "Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.

Those that won't be prepared will weep and wail because they won't be able to be a part of the intimacy time with the bridegroom.
