Matthew 6:33 NAS But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

The myth of loving God is anything we do or not do that is not in His word.

Mark 12:29-31 NKJV 29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.  30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.  31 And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

Actions of putting God first:

  • John 8:42 NAS If God were your Father, you would love Me
  • John 14:15 NAS If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Amy – Promise or Expectation

  • Do we trust our expectations above the promises of God?

Our expectation can limit & distract us from God’s actual promise

  • Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
    • Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG 20 God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. 21 Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!
      • You can get into a lie with your expectation

  • We are all on a climb to go higher in God
    • What is the goal???
      • The relationship the Jesus had with His Father.

  • Rick Joyner - The Final Quest excerpt

Some strand or quit in the climb.

Some strand in valleys where God is working great things in them and stop growing in God.

When we strand we then get comfortable and start to believe this is normal God life.

The manifestations and power stop in our lives and we then develop doctrines based on our personal experiences, or lack of them.

The step is often an area:

  • We're not willing to surrender
  • We hit a pain that we won’t allow God to heal
  • We’re unwilling to go through what it takes to free us from demonic intrusion.
  • Troubles through people or things stop us
  • We don't have the knowledge

Matthew 13:18-22 NAS 18 "Hear then the parable of the sower.  19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.  20 "The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;  21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.  22 "And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

  • We get stuck in a wilderness
    • Amy: Wilderness
      • Some steps require that we go into a wilderness to produce the faith or whatever it takes to take the step

To stay anywhere where we stop pushing to the top is not $$ loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind & strength.

Amy: When we believe the lie…

  • 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

Dakota: As you endure you mature

  • James 1:2-4 NAS 2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Dakota: We were headed for divorce

Things we did to change our marriage

Dakota: We shifted from what we wanted to what God wants

  • James 4:3 NAS You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Rick Joyner - The Final Quest - On the mountain, there were ledges at different levels for as high as we could see. At each higher level the ledges became narrower and more difficult to stand on. Each level was named for a biblical truth. The lower levels were named after foundational truths such as “Salvation,” “Sanctification,” “Prayer,” and “Faith,” and the higher levels were named after deeper biblical truths. The higher we climbed, the larger both our shields and our swords grew, and fewer of the enemy arrows could reach our positions.

A Tragic Mistake Some who had stayed on the lower levels began picking up the enemy arrows and shooting them back. This was a very grave mistake. The demons easily dodged the arrows and let them hit the Christians. When a Christian was hit by one of the arrows of accusation or slander, a demon of bitterness or rage would fly in and perch on that arrow. He would then begin to urinate and defecate his poison upon that Christian. When a Christian had two or three of these demons added to the pride or self-righteousness he already had, he was transformed into the contorted image of the demons themselves. We could see this happening from the higher levels, but those on the lower levels who were using the enemy’s arrows could not see it. About half of us decided to keep climbing, while the other half descended back to the lower levels to explain to those below what was happening. Everyone was then warned to keep climbing and not stop, except for a few who stationed themselves on each level to keep the other soldiers moving higher.

When we reached the level called “The Unity of the Brethren,” none of the enemy’s arrows could reach us.

At each level there were arrows of Truth scattered about, which I knew were left from those who had fallen from that position (many had fallen from each position). All of the arrows were named after the Truth of that level.

Our swords grew after we reached each new level

The “Galatians Two Twenty” (I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.) level was so wide that there did not seem to be any danger of falling. An unlimited supply of arrows was available, with the name Hope written on them. We shot some of them down at the vultures and killed them easily.

We knew it was going to be a long battle, but we were not suffering any more casualties now, and we had continued to climb past the level of “Patience.”

It was troubling that after these Christians had the demons shot off of them, few would come to the mountain. Many had taken on the nature of the demons and continued in their delusion without them.

Almost without warning, we came to a level that opened up into a Garden. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Over the entrance to this Garden was written, “The Father’s Unconditional Love.”

The Lord Jesus Himself then appeared right in our midst. He took the time to greet each one personally, congratulating us for reaching the top of the mountain.
