Walking in the Full Potential of The Blessing

December 16, 2015

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  Jeremiah 29:11

expected (Hebrew)  literally, a cord (as an attachment)

Gen 12:2 KJV:  2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee,

and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.

I.  How did The Blessing of the Lord impact the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Job?

            A. For those who serve and obey God, His Blessing did not impact them in one way or in one area only. The Blessing of the Lord impacted their lives in multiple directions.

                        1. Abraham:  Gen 24:35 KJV:  35 And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

                                    a. Abraham was blessed greatly, and he became great.

                                    b. The Blessing was manifested in multi-dimensional ways in his life:

                                                1. Flocks

                                                2. Herds

                                                3. Silver

                                                4. Gold

                                                5. Menservants & Maidservants

                                                6. Camels

                                                7. Asses

                        2. IsaacGen 26:13-14 KJV:  13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:14 For he had possession of flocks, and possessions of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

                                    a. Isaac waxed great. (waxed-to become gradually larger, more numerous, stronger, or                                                                                   more intense)

                                    b. Isaac went forward and grew until he became very great.

                                    a. The Blessing was manifested in multi-dimensional ways in his life:

                                                1. Flocks

                                                2. Herds

                                                3. Great many servants

                                                4. Caused the natives of the land to envy him

                        3. Jacob:  Gen 30:43 AMP:  43 Thus the man increased and became exceedingly rich, and had many sheep and goats, and maidservants, menservants, camels, and donkeys.

                                    a. Even though Jacob was a trickster who tricked his brother Esau out of his father’s                                                                                         blessing, and even though he was then tricked by Laban to be his “slave” for 20 years,                                                                                       The Blessing of the Lord was on his life.

                                    b. God had a plan to deliver him out of captivity and prosper in the midst of that                                                                                               captivity.

                                    c. The Blessing was manifested in multi-dimensional ways in his life:

                                                1. Jacob increased.

                                                2. Jacob became exceedingly rich.  (exceedingly – to an advanced or unusual                                                                                                      degree; to go beyond the limits of)

                                                3. Sheep

                                                4. Goats

                                                5. Many maidservants & menservants

                                                6. Camels

                                                7. Donkeys

                        4. Job:  Job 1:3 AMP:  He possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female                                                                       donkeys, and a very great body of servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East.

Job 42:10-11 KJV:  10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job                        twice as much as he had before.

11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance                                 before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that                           the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.  12 So                         the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six                                     thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

                                    a. The Blessing made Job the greatest of all the men of the East.

                                    b. Even though Job was attacked by Satan, God turned his captivity when he prayed for                                                                                   souls (his friends).

                                    c. He restored Job double everything he lost…family, fortunes… in the attack.  His                                                                                               family and friends brought him money and gold earrings.

                                    d. Job 42:12:  So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he

had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen,                                          and a thousand she asses.

                                                1. Sheep – a continual source of wool – a valuable commodity

                                                2. Camels – long distance carriers of heavy loads that could travel long distance                                                    without tiring.  Today would be like a trucking business that carry all kinds of                                                        goods and produce along the interstates.

                                                3. Oxen – used as land & material moving equipment.  Today like tillers, tractors,                                                    backhoes, and dump trucks.

                                                4. Female donkeys – short distance carriers of various kinds of loads.  Today that

would be like U-Haul or Ryder trucks.

II. Faithfulness means maximizing your potential.  God considers faithfulness as more than just being where you are supposed to be and doing what you are supposed to be doing.  God views faithfulness as maximizing the potential that He has placed on the inside of us.

            A. Parable of the Talents:

                        1. Faithful servants - Matt 25:16-17 AMP:  16 He who had received the five talents went at

once and traded with them, and he gained five talents more. 17 And likewise he who had                                                                           received the two talents — he also gained two talents more.

                        2. Master’s response to these 2 servants:  Matt 25:23 KJV:  His lord said unto him, Well done,

good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler

over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

                        3. Unfaithful servant - Matt 25:18 AMP:  18 But he who had received the one talent went

and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

                        4. Master’s response to the 1 servant:  Matt 25:24-27 KJV:  Then he which had received the

one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou                                                                     hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed (or scattered no seed):  And I                                                                           was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.  26 His                                                                     lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knew that I reap                                                                       where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed :  27 Thou ought therefore to have                                                                     put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own                                                                       with usury.

                        5. The unfaithful servant “played it safe”.  He kept what his master had placed in him to increase

and expand hidden.  God called him unfaithful, wicked, and slothful.

            B. Why did the unfaithful servant view his master as a hard man, reaping where he has not sown and

gathering where he has not strawed?  That man had a spirit of poverty of vision.

                        1. Prov 24:30-34 KJV:  30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man                                                                              void of understanding;31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered                                                                    the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.  32 Then I saw, and considered it                                                              well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.  33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding                                                          of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want                                                                              as an armed man.

                                    a. He didn’t really know his master.  His view of him made him afraid to try anything,                                                                                         just accepting and content with “Whatever you want Lord”.

                                    b. But the master is really saying “What do you want?”  Do you want breakthrough?

Do you want to connect to the passion and desire I have put in your heart?

                                    c. Our Father is really looking for us to look at the desires for the Kingdom that He has                                                                                      put in us and identify them before Him.

                                    d. Our Father needs us to have breakthrough with what He has put in us and manifest His                                                                             glory on the earth.

III. As believers it is time that we become intentional in exercising our faith to walk in the full potential of The Blessing!!  Settling for less than what He has bought for us in not an option.

            A. Position yourself for multiple streams of income:

                        1. Seek God, not things – Matt. 6:33; Prov. 8:10; 2 Chron. 26:5

                        2. Live uprightly – Ps. 112:3; Ps. 84:11

                        3. Obey God – Deut. 28:2; Is. 1:19

                        4. Be diligent – Prov. 10:4; Prov. 13:4; Prov. 12:11; Prov. 21:5; Rom. 12:11

                        5. Develop & exercise your faith in this area –Put the Word of God into your mind & heart, &                                                                           into your mouth and develop your faith for The Blessing to manifest additional streams of income.

                        6. Ask the Lord to show you what you already have.  Many times people are sitting on an idea or                                                                   gift/ability that can be converted into a stream of income if they just understood how to use what                                                                 they have.

                                    a. 2 Kings 4:1-2 AMP:  NOW THE wife of a son of the prophets cried to Elisha, Your servant my husband is                                               dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. But the creditor has come to take my two sons to be                                       his slaves.  2 Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what have you [of sale value] in the house?                                         She said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.

            B. The Blessing that God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 12:2 is for us today.

                        1. Gen 17:7 KJV:  7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed                                                                               after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy                                                                   seed after thee.

                        2. Gal 3:29 KJV:  And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to                                                                          the promise.

                        3. Prov 10:22 KJV:  22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with                                                                     it.

                        4. Multiple streams of income doesn’t mean going out to work 3 jobs or extra shifts.  That is not                                                                    The Blessing.

                        5. But it doesn’t mean waiting for things to “poof” into your hands.  It doesn’t mean all talk & no action.

                                    a. Eccl 5:3 AMP:  3 For a dream comes with much business and painful effort, and a                                                                                    fool's voice with many words.

                        6. The key is relationship:  Isa 48:17 AMP:  17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy                                                                           One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way                                                                       that you should go.

Gal 3:29 KJV:  And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Gen 17:7 KJV:  7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Prov 10:22 KJV:  22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
