This message is to:

  1. Show that God does talk about money in the bible.
  2. Show that God wants His children to abound financially
  3. Challenge God’s kings, those called to supply finances for God’s kingdom work on earth

The crown of thorns signifies the removing through the cross of the curse.

Genesis 3:17-19 NAS 17 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 "Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field; 19 By the sweat of your face you will eat bread, till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return."

Galatians 3:13a NAS Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 AMP 6 [Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings.

7 Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]. [Proverbs 22:9.]

8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

9 As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever! [Psalms 112:9.]

10 And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. [Isaiah 55:10; Hosea 10:12.]

11 Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God.

The following are scriptures to show that God does talk about money.

Ecclesiastes 5:18-19 NAS 18 Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat, to drink and enjoy oneself in all one's labor in which he toils under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward. 19 Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.

Psalms 112:1-3 NAS Praise the Lord! How blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who greatly delights in His commandments. 2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.

Genesis 26:12-13 NAS 12 Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the Lord blessed him, 13 and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy

Malachi 3:10 AMP Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

What amount is prospering?

What exactly does prospering mean?

  • Prosperity is a condition of abundance or more than enough and not an amount
  • 3 John 2 NAS Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV "And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Deuteronomy 8:11-17 NKJV 11 "Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, 12 lest — when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them;  13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; 14 when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; 16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end —  17 then you say in your heart, 'My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.'

Being approved to handle God’s wealth will take a commitment and learning process that will be unequal to the highest ministry call.

God will not allow His wealth to:

  1. Destroy someone’s spiritual or physical life
  2. Be used to promote someone’s personal interests
  3. Be used as a personal place of power.

Proverbs 10:22 NLT The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

  • Makes Rich (Strong's) `ashar (aw-shar'); to accumulate; chiefly (specifically) to grow (causatively, make) rich

1 Kings 22:48 KJV Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber

1 Kings 9:26-28 NAS 26 King Solomon also built a fleet of ships in Ezion-geber, which is near Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom. 27 And Hiram sent his servants with the fleet, sailors who knew the sea, along with the servants of Solomon. 28 They went to Ophir and took four hundred and twenty talents of gold from there, and brought it to King Solomon.

Do you believe that God wants you to prosper?

Have you become so fully convinced that you’re pursuing being prosperous?

Do you believe that God is at work in you right now to bring you to a place where you possess your promise of being prosperous? - $$ He gives power to get wealth

God is working in us to cause His promises and plans to come to pass.

Our belief leading to faith leading to obedience will allow this process to take place.

We think the development of the promise is in a book or a 2 day trial or by giving up some menial thing.

It is in the testing of our faith

It is in the obedience to what God says to do

It is in the faithfulness and diligence to conduct yourself right even when you don’t feel like it.

If you’re believing for something and not being diligent with it you won’t see it come to pass

Steps of faithfulness & diligence:

  1. Speak what you’re believing for
  2. Be active in what you’re believing for by
    1. Being in the word concerning your promise to become fully convinced
    2. Sow towards what you’re believing for

How much is too much?

Do you feel guilty for believing for a lot?

Do you have enough to build a 5,000 seat auditorium?

Real question: Could God trust you if He gave you one million dollars right now?

Why would you want it? - James 4:3-4 NAS You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Would you continue to submit to authority or would you use it for power to get what you want?

Would you give

Do you believe God wants you to prosper based on the word?

  • Many want to believe only when we see it and not from the word.
    • This is wrong because:
  1. You'll follow those that look prosperous but it's from ungodly ways and
  2. You'll see the prosperity and try to obtain it by a formula.
  • These will fail and cause our faith to shipwreck
