Becoming A New You

Unhappiness comes from an imagined state of being.

When we live life with ‘the grass always looks greener on the other side’ mindset we decrease contentment and wellbeing.

Philippians‬ ‭4:12-13‬ ‭NASB “I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
‭‭

We are built to be rewarded with pleasurable thoughts and actions

How the dopamine works in the brain

  • When a person partakes in a pleasurable thought or activity the brain releases a pleasure chemical called dopamine.

  • This is called the Brain’s Reward System.

  • This reward system is present in the brain to ensure that humans repeat life-sustaining activities such as eating food, drinking water and mating.

    • When people take drugs or drink alcohol, however, it basically sends the system into overdrive.

If we’re unhappy with everything in our lives because we’re looking for a false reality we rob ourselves of the contentment and well being that the brain’s reward system brings.

We look at everyone else’s life and see it externally and think that if it were your life you’d then be happy.

  • Every other house is better than yours

  • Every other spouse is better

  • Every other life is better

    • If only you had their life

Romans 12:2 NAS And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 4:8-9 NAS Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

  • Dwell (Strong’s) logizomai (log-id'-zom-ahee); to take an inventory

Proverbs 23:7 NKJV For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Rid yourself of the negative

Loose trauma from your soul

Focus on the victories

Romans 1:21 NAS For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Retrain yourself to not constantly talk negative

Talking problems enhancers and magnifies the problem to a place that everything looks like a problem.
